In his autocratic rule, the crocodile is out here trying to make the devil look like a saint. Who has balls to imprison opposition leaders without trial in a maximum prison? Who, in their right state of mind, removes an opponent from the ballot so that he participates alone and declares himself the winner afterwards? It can only be the failED leader of a once glorified state that has turned out to be one of the poorest destinations in the world, Zimbabwe.
Already, the Zimbabwean Election is a fraud before it even starts. Ahead of the 23 August 2023 Elections, the Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa regime has persecuted, as, ironically, his Shona name Dambudzo translates to, opposition political leaders such as Job Sikhala and Transform Zimbabwe leader Jacob Ngarivhume. Job Sikhala has been rotting in Chikurubhi
Maximum Prison for over a year now without trial. On the other hand, Jacob Ngarivhume was sentenced to 3 years in prison for simply tweeting that corruption must end.
The 23rd of August 2023 is looming ahead, and Mnangagwa and his cronies are running scared. Presidential candidate, former minister of Mugabe’s Government, and former ZANU PF political Commissar, Saviour Kasukuwere is disqualified from running for presidency. This is after one Lovedale Mangwana, a ZANU PF activist took to the courts to challenge Kasukuwere’s candidature on the basis that Kasukuwere has been living out of the country for over 18 months. The Supreme Court of Appeal also upheld this decision by the High Court but did not state the reasons why.
The battle between Kasukuwere and Mnangagwa is not thoroughly a legal battle, but like any other case, political. This is typical of what winky D (a Zimbabwean Dancehall singer) calls, in one of his songs “panotungana dzemudanga“, which translates in English to when bulls from the same kraal fight. This fight is not about anything other than proving who is in charge, it is an internal ZANU PF war. Kasukuwere, as a citizen of Zimbabwe, should be afforded his right to have his face and name on the ballot paper. It would be wise if the citizenry, however, does not get too involved in this fight, because at the end of the day, Kasukuwere is ZANU Pf. Zimbabwe does not need a further ZANU PF rule. This is important to note, so that citizens do not make the same mistake they made in November 2017 when they replaced Mugabe with Mnangagwa. Lest we forget, Kasukuwere, when he was Minister of Local government in 2015, told Tsvangirai, the then leader of the main opposition, that there would be no electoral reforms under his watch, and so he should “go hang”. So, what has changed now? Or is he jealous that he is no longer the part of
the cabal that has persecuted Zimbabwe before? Now the same snake he created is now owned by someone else and is thirsting for his blood. And what should his victims do, empathize with and vote for him?
In Bulawayo, 12 Citizens Coalition for Change candidates were barred by the High Court from contesting on the grounds that they filed their nomination papers after the prescribed time by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.5 What is funny, factually, is that Zec submitted to court that the candidates indeed submitted their papers on time. But the court contradicts this. As a result, the CCC has lost all Bulawayo seats and in most of these, ZANU PF is left uncontested.
Something to keep in mind, since the year 2000, ZANU PF has managed to have one seat in Bulawayo. The City of Kings (Bulawayo) is clearly a CCC stronghold. Now, is it coincidental that all CCC candidates have been disqualified from running?
Have the courts turned electorate now? Why is the Junta taking the battle to the courts, and not letting the electrode decide whom they want as their leader? Perhaps, allegations are true that the regime has the courts in their pockets, but they do not have the people. This explains why they are defrauding the citizens of their right to vote. They know that if this right is upheld, they will be out of power by early morning on the 24th of August 2023. Well, I mean, who is not tired of inflation, arbitrary arrests, no pension funds for our elderly, no functioning hospital, we can spend the entire day talking about Idhi’s failures. We need new leaders!!!
